The BRAEBON MediByte® is an FDA cleared miniature 12-channel, Type 3 home sleep apnea and snoring recorder. It monitors the following physiologic parameters: blood oxygen, pulse rate, desaturations, hypopneas, mixed apneas, obstructive apneas, central apneas, body position, nasal/oral air flow, air flow resistance via pressure transducer, occurrence and volume of snore events. An auxiliary (AUX) port provides a high sample rate channel for a variety of applications, including snore sound, EKG or EMG. The sensitive snore microphone used for high frequency snoring analysis derives quantitative sound levels in decibels (dB). The EMG electrodes may alternatively be used to record bruxism or other myoclonic events.
Dr. Moses recommends taking a baseline recording on all sleep patients as the basis on which treatment outcome can be evaluated. It is recommended that a second recording is done two to three weeks post insertion when the patient is comfortable and accustomed to wearing their oral appliance. Subsequent recordings are done after each appliance adjustment.
