Maximum airway dilation is achieved when the tongue is forward and against roof of the mouth. Moses appliances have only a thin layer of material on the lingual mandibular arch.

IS MOSES ALPHA CLEARED BY THE FDA?
Yes. All the Moses Appliances, including the Alpha are cleared by the FDA for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
IS MOSES ALPHA COVERED BY MEDICAL INSURANCE?
Yes. E0486 is the current HCPCS medical code for a custom-fitted mandibular sleep apnea appliance, used for dental sleep medicine medical billing.
The description for E0486 is an oral device/appliance used to reduce upper airway collapsibility. This includes adjustable or non-adjustable, custom fabricated, fitting and adjustment.
NEW DEVICE UPON RECALL?
Providers can take advantage of regular recall appointments to replace the lower component or any Moses appliance with a new Alpha Update. The costs are so low, it may make sense for the provider and the patient gets a new spanky clean appliance every couple of years.
Providers can take advantage of a new Alpha Update for any patient with a Moses Alpha, original The Moses or Moses Elite.
